A browser that puts you first.

Kuro is a free, open-source desktop browser built on the Zen Browser and Firefox ecosystem. It focuses on privacy, reliability, customization, performance, and a great overall browsing experience.

Why Kuro exists

Some browsers have bugs, errors, poor performance, confusing interfaces, or features that don’t work as well as they should. Kuro takes what works, improves what doesn’t, and aims to feel polished and modern.

Kuro aims to address these problems by:

  • Fixing bugs and browser issues
  • Improving reliability and stability
  • Creating a better browsing experience
  • Adding useful and powerful features
  • Providing a modern, polished interface
  • Giving users more control and customization
  • Keeping privacy at the center of the browser

Kuro won’t add features for the sake of having more features. They should be useful, reliable, and well integrated into the browser.

What Kuro stands for

  • Privacy

Private by design. No unnecessary data collection, no selling user data, and no invasive tracking.

  • A great browser

Reliable, fast, stable, and easy to use, and powerful when you need advanced features.

  • Design

Modern, clean, polished, consistent, and highly customizable.

  • Features

Workspaces and advanced tab management, productivity and privacy tools, optional local AI, and performance and RAM optimization, with more over time.

  • Open source

Kuro stays open source. The community can inspect, contribute to, and improve the project.

Made for everyone

Kuro should work well for casual users while giving people who want more control the tools to customize and extend their browser.

It isn’t designed around one type of user. The experience should feel approachable on day one and stay powerful for as long as you want to dig in.

What Kuro will never do

Kuro stays focused on the user rather than extracting value from the user.

  • Kuro will never: Charge users just to use the browser
  • Kuro will never: Require payment for basic browser functionality
  • Kuro will never: Use advertisements as part of the browser experience
  • Kuro will never: Sell user data
  • Kuro will never: Collect unnecessary user data
  • Kuro will never: Put monetization ahead of user privacy
  • Kuro will never: Intentionally create unnecessary lock-in

Where we’re going

The long-term goal is for Kuro to reach millions of people around the world and become a better browser choice for users everywhere.

Kuro keeps improving through community and developer contributions, user feedback, bug fixes, performance improvements, new features, better privacy protections, better accessibility, and continued upstream improvements.

Kuro should grow without losing the principles it was built around.

Build a browser that puts the user first.
